BTA Regular Session No. 45 (November 25-26, 2020)

Highlights:

☑️The Committee Report No. 40 presented before the plenary by MP Romeo Sema which discusses the Proposed Bill No. 36 also known as the Act to Institutionalize Policies for Bangsamoro Overseas Employment and to Establish Protection and Promotion for their welfare was deliberated upon by the Parliament;

☑️The period of interpellation and debate for the Committee Report No. 40 was opened and MP Romeo Sema, the proponent of the bill, defended the said committee report;

☑️Other Members of the Parliament raised their respective questions and manifestations. Among them were MP Jose Lorena, MP Khadafeh Mangundadato, MP Baintan Ampatuan, MP Raissa Jajurie, MP Suharto Ambolodto, MP Ziaur-Rahman Adiong, MP Laisa Alamia and MP Don Mustapha Loong;

☑️Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim delivered his message to the august body. His message focused on the following updates such as: the status of COVID-19 in BARMM; the proposed cast budget of BARMM for FY 2021 with an amount of Php75-Billion; the recent meeting with Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte with regards to the BARMM extension;

☑️During the session, MP Omar Sema was elected as the Deputy Speaker; MP Khadafeh Mangundadato as the Deputy Majority Floor Leader; and MP Rasol Y. Mitmug as the Deputy Minority Floor Leader. Thereupon, they took their oath before the Chief Minister;

☑️MP Ubaida Pacasem delivered his sponsorship speech about the BTA-Cabinet Bill No. 73 also known as the Bangsamoro Appropriating Funds FY 2021 for the Operation of the Bangsamoro Government. Furthermore, the BTA-Cabinet Bill No. 73 was referred to the Committee on Finance, Budget and Management;

☑️MP Anna Tarhata Basman read the Committee Report No. 42 about the BTA Organizational Structure and then it was deliberated upon;

☑️The period of interpellation and debate for the Committee Report No. 40 was opened while allowing the MPs to raise their questions. Among them were MP Atty. Lanang Ali, MP Jose Lorena, MP Paisalin Tago, MP Romeo Saliga, MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph, MP Diamila Ramos, MP Bai Maleiha Candao, MP Laisa Alamia and MP Nabil Tan;

☑️MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph asked some clarificatory questions to the author of the Committee Report No. 42 regarding the similarity of the BTA-Parliamentary Structure with the Senate and the Congress of the Philippines, structure outside of the Philippine’s model and the definition of the Secretary General.
